Hi Ken,I am looking forward to hearing more about Samoa (I thought you had planned to stay longer there) but I guess you have gone to New Zealand to watch the rugby. Let us know if you actually manage to witness a hakka live! They will need it along with other desperate cries if it is anything like the match they played against Wales. Your travel accounts continue to enthrall. I have also passed your address on to a couple of people you know whom I am sure will become regular visitors.Malene

As Ken mentions in his journal, he crashed at my place the last two weekends. What he neglected to mention was the Friday night session at a pub in San Jose where he managed to fall asleep at least three times, once whilst stood up. As he was having diffculty standing up whilst awake this was quite an achievement.

Cheers Seth, thanks for bringing that up, to be honest I had kind of forgotten about it..... Thanks again for all your hospitality and introducing me to live American Football.

Dear Ken,I am still avidly reading your accounts. The photos are good, keep them coming also ones of you ;-)I am absolutely envious (righteously of course) that you are on Samoa. I would be curious to see photos of the inhabitants from a cultural perspective.I bet the food is great and the people real friendly.I am still enjoying the Scooby and am having the MX5 done up. I don't think I can part with it after all. There is an opportunity in Koblenz I have seen so cross your fingers for me...Rez has moved to Dublin by the way.Malene

Malene, thanks for all the messages. I am putting up as many photos as possible but to be honest most internet cafes are not well set up for getting pictures off my camera and editing them. The pics of Samoa may be a little slow in coming. To be honest the food is OK, going on disappointing. The best fish has been at tourist places, not the local's eateries which seem to specialise in Chow Mein and Chicken Curry.Good luck on the Koblenz opportunity.

Hiya Ken,Wicked website - loved reading it, looks like you are having a great time. You will be pleased to know your flat is fine and indeed I understand that Adam has fitted some laminate wood flooring in the kitchen, although I havent seen it yet. I'll give you the verdict next time I'm over in Solihull.Looking forward to the next instalment.CheersAnthony

Ant, I having been having a good time and thank Adam for me. I'm not sure if he has Internet access so you may want to show him the travel journal next time he is at your place.

Thanks for phoning today. Sorry but I won't be able to meet up with you in Austin, as I am flying to Chicago early that morning for a business meeting. Will you be around tomorrow (Sunday) night?

Hi Ken,Just checking in. Glad to see that you are having a great time so far.I am trying to get some work in the pacific time zone (to avoid buying my own tickets, as they are pretty steep imho) around the time you are there. Obviously this is something of a lottery but we'll see how it goes. With any luck Anita will have made it back Stateside, and with even more luck, she will join me. Hope the San Fran thing is as much fun as last time we did it :o)I went to the absolutely cracking Austin City Limits festival (www.aclfestival.com) this weekend, as 80,000 people showed up at the bottom of my garden where it was taking place. REM headlined, and lived up to their awesome reputation, The String Cheese Incident sounds funny, but is another cool band. Saw Steve Winwood (thumbs up) and Beth Orton (wasn't in the mood for her, she must have been stoned or something -- she was nervous as hell and it showed).Anyway keep up the good work living the dream and see you in a couple of weeks with any luck :o)Al.PS Anita has the photos, but I'll email a couple of thumbnails (or bring a CD) if I can.

Ken, I am home from Croatia and just checked your site to see your progress. I see you are in NYC on the 19th. I doubt you're still in the area, but if you are, feel free to send me an email and I will be glad to give you a little NJ tour. NJ doesn't have the best reputation but that's because it is a very well kept secret. I tell people that Jackie Onassis and Malcolm Forbes wouldn't have had homes here if it wasn't a really special place. I do a lot of cycling and pass horse farms within minutes of my home.If you have already moved on, I'm sorry to have missed you but will follow your journal and travel vicariously through your writing. Warm Regards,Ginia

Hi Ken,In case you are curious how my Scooby probs are developing, the following might make you laughThe French dealer says it is completely normal for an STi. Anyone that has offered me an opinion to the contrary are wrong since only STi drivers can judge.Cannot really argue against that.Rich just placed this on the Scooby net. The answer is probably true ;-)Queryit (the noise) started off as a very faint whine that increased/decreased with revs.AnswerIf it increases with speed, then it's most likely to be the wife/girlfriend in my experience!

Dear Ken,We hope you got off to a flying start on the 10th (better than the 11th).I (Malene) just had a brilliant Frankfurt motor show, with Richard attending on one of the days (chatting away in the Valeo hospitality area….). I had a browse on the other Scooby potential rivals there and am even more convinced I made the right choice in My Scooby acquired just three weeks ago. Only problem so far is a funny metallic sound when changing gears and uneven running around 4000 rpm plus some funny reaction from a Speedster driver. My next mail will be a posting on the Scooby net to see if anyone has got suggestion for a diagnosis. It is due for service tomorrow anyway but it is a French dealer so I do not know the reliability I can expect.I am hoping to be in Japan for the Tokyo Motor Show next month so if your plans change let me know. I am there from 20-24 October. In any case, Richard and I are still planning to come to Sydney for New Year and have just booked our rooms in the Grace Hotel, city centre.Richard here. I have tested out Malene’s Scooby and even despite the problem she describes the Evo still has the edge in terms of steering and mid-range torque. The Evo seats are better too - made to keep you in place, whereas the Scooby’s look the part but are too soft. Oh, and she still goes round corners like she’s driving a Fiat!ttfnMalene & Richard

Well, today's the big day. Bon Voyage!Nice to catch up you at the weekend - remember to get in touch when you've decided what to do after Moscow. Nick and I will try and catch up with you if you're passing through N.W. Europe (Munich, Brussles, Bruge?)

hi ken, chanced upon your website while looking for more info on rtw tickets. here's wishing you a great trip. should you need company in singapore, drop me a line. ciao!

My ticket is from the Star Alliance as they had the greatest flexibility. Quantas/BA do some cheeper deals. Good luck on your own RTW trip.
